  1. Steam blocks you from claiming more than 50 keys a day, but locks you out after 25 failed attempts a day. So there is no way you attempted 4 billion keys, your program wasnt correctly handling the blocked attempts after 25 failed attempts

  2. I mean this is true cause to my understanding keys dont exist until bought so you wont find any keys out there except unactivated ones which are real low amount.

  3. You probably generated real keys, the issue is they have to be activated keys and activated keys have a short life span. The odds of generating a real activated key is so rare it's nearly impossible.

  4. There can be approximately 333.45 quadrillion (or 3.33 × 10²³) possible unique Steam keys using 15 characters and 37 possible symbols.
Now take into account all the keys expired, used or not active yet. Lets assume there are a 100 billion active keys then the possibility of randomly finding one by chance is still 0.00000000003%

  5. Not only small chance but Steam will just lie after it detects brute force, if you continually keep checking, you will enter a cooldown of unspecified duration

  6. So the probability for 25 digit long and 15 digit long is 62^25 and 62^15 or you can say
    62²⁵ ≈ 6.449.578.117.102.136.197.466.651.275.004.096.602.435.929.600.000.000

    > Six quattuordecillion, four hundred forty-nine tredecillion, five hundred seventy-eight duodecillion, one hundred seventeen undecillion, one hundred two decillion, one hundred thirty-six nonillion, one hundred ninety-seven octillion, four hundred sixty-six septillion, six hundred fifty-one sextillion, two hundred seventy-five quintillion, four trillion, ninety-six billion, six hundred two million, four hundred thirty-five thousand, nine hundred twenty-nine million, six hundred.

    62¹⁵ ≈ 7.689.154.594.581.825.072.364.672

    > Seven septillion, six hundred eighty-nine sextillion, one hundred fifty-four quintillion, five hundred ninety-four quadrillion, five hundred eighty-one trillion, eight hundred twenty-five billion, seventy-two million, three hundred sixty-four thousand, six hundred seventy-two.

Conclusion: 4Bilion is smol guest pool

  7. How do you generate a key that isn't for anything? You have to activate the key for the specific game, there isn't just like millions of steam keys sitting in an archive waiting to be activated, are you people dense?

  8. The reason it doesn’t work, is because a key only becomes active, when buying it. At the counter they scan the key, and from that moment in it becomes active. Preventing this exact scenario. So you COULD do it, just you have to get the 1 in a trillion in the small timeframe, that starts at the purchase of the key, and ends at the redemption of said key.

  9. for it to work the key has to be activated on steam's side for a key activation for a client
so you'd have to find a sleeper key that is activated server side but never activated from a client
